LINE app notifications not working? – Quick fix

LINE is a popular messaging app, and it’s often thought to be a solid alternative to Whatsapp and Kik. The app is free to use, and available across all platforms.

LINE supports a variety of media, such as text messages, audio, images, and videos. The app includes all the functions of a normal messaging app, including notifications.

However, there are times when the app’s notifications may struggle to work properly. Here are some ways in which you can solve those issues.

LINE app notifications not working? – What to do

There are a few common causes that could be preventing LINE’s notifications from working correctly. We’ll go through some of those causes, and their respective solutions.

Check Device Settings

LINE’s notifications may not be working because they’ve been disabled in the device settings. Check whether this is the case, and enable notifications if necessary.

For iOS:

Go to Settings > LINE.

Press notifications to open the notification settings.

Check whether notifications are enabled for LINE. If the switch for allow notifications is green, then notifications are enabled. This means that the LINE app’s notifications should be working. The issue is most likely not with the device settings.

If the switch is grey, then notifications have been disabled. Press the switch to enable notifications. This should allow the app to show you notifications.

When the switch has been toggled on, a series of options should appear.

Ensure that all the options are enabled. This will make sure that LINE’s notifications come through.

For Android:

Go to Settings > Notifications. There should be a list of apps displayed.

If the LINE app is not on the list, press ‘more’ to expand the list.

If the LINE app is still not shown, press on the filter option near the top of the screen. It should be ‘most recent’ by default. Change it to ‘all’ in order to showcase all your apps.

Find the LINE app, and press on it. This will open up LINE’s notification settings.

Make sure that all the options are enabled. This should ensure that all LINE notifications come through.

Check App Settings

Alternatively, there may be an issue with the notification settings within the app.

You can check these settings by opening the LINE app, and pressing the gear icon in the top right. This will open the settings.

Scroll down to find the notification option. Press it to open the notification settings.

Alternatively, if you’re using an iOS device, you can go to Settings > LINE > Notifications. There should be a ‘LINE notification settings’ option. Press it to open up the app’s notification settings.

Check whether the switch next to the notifications option is on. If it’s on, notifications have been enabled in the app’s settings.

Make sure to check the writing under the notifications option. It will tell you if LINE’s notifications have not been enabled in the device settings.

If the notification switch is off, notifications have been turned off in the app’s settings. Press the switch to enable notifications.

Ensure that every notification option is turned on. These options include new messages, message previews, thumbnail previews, mentions, group invitations, timeline notifications, in-app alerts, in-app sounds, and in-app vibration. This should make sure that every notification comes through.

Check if battery saver mode is enabled

If battery saver mode is enabled, it will prevent LINE from running in the background when it’s closed. This can affect the app’s notifications, and stop them from appearing when the app is closed.

Check whether battery saver mode is on for your device, and disable it if so.

For iOS:

The battery saver mode on iOS devices is called low power mode.

To disable it, go to Settings > Battery.

If the switch next to low power mode is green, low power mode is enabled. Press the switch to disable low power mode.

If the switch is grey, low power mode has already been disabled.

For Android:

The battery saver mode on Android devices is called power saving mode.

To disable it, go to Settings > Battery and Device Care > Battery.

Check whether the switch next to the power saving mode option is on. If it’s blue, power saving mode has been enabled. Press the switch to disable power saving mode.

If the switch is grey, power saving mode has already been disabled.

Contact Customer Support

If none of these solutions worked, then try contacting LINE’s customer support.

Go to this link, and press the ‘continue without logging in’ option near the bottom. Or, you could log in with your LINE account.

This should send you to LINE’s inquiry form. Fill it in to send your query to the support team.

Line is not the only app to have issues, as people typically find other apps like Whatsapp not working from time to time too. Hopefully though, with this tutorial you can get your Line app up and running again.

To conclude, LINE can have issues with its notifications. Some notifications may be failing to show up, or you may not be getting notifications at all.

These issues are usually caused by either the device’s notification settings, or the app’s notification settings. Enabling all the notification options usually solves these issues.

However, if the issue does not lie in the notification settings, you should contact LINE’s customer support with your issue. You can find a link to their inquiry form in their help centre.
