Why is Bumble so expensive?

Bumble has been the app of choice for many women in recent years, in a bid to escape the endless supply of lustful men filling their inbox with randy messages.

And for flirting, chatting and dating, Bumble is pretty great. It’s an online dating app for women who are looking for respectful men.

Although it offers a great service, some people think that Bumble is too expensive to spend money on. Which begs the question – why is Bumble as expensive as it is?

Why are dating apps like Bumble so expensive?

The reason why dating apps like Bumble are so expensive is because this is their main source of income, and it helps fund their creation of premium service features.

Many free dating apps will have third party ads on their user interface, which is how they make money from free users. Upgrading to a premium service gets rid of the ads and gives money to the company directly.

You also get access to a whole host of useful features. With Bumble, this is things like;

  • Bumble Travel, which allows you to change your location to somewhere completely different.
  • Bumble Beeline, which allows you to see all of the people that have liked your Bumble profile.
  • Unlimited swipes, which means you can swipe left and right on as many people as you want each day.
  • Incognito mode, which gives you the ability to hide your profile completely aside from on those you swiped right on.
  • Access to all of the advanced filters that Bumble has that mean you can find potential matches that suit you.

These are just some of the features that Bumble offer. Obviously for this level of app, Bumble requires a lot of development and input – hence the price.

You get access to different premium features depending on which package you opt for.

Bumble Boost vs Bumble Premium

Bumble has two different plans that you can choose from. Depending on what you need, and how much money you have, one may appeal more to you than the other.

Most people will probably be fine with Bumble Boost, which is the cheaper of the two packages.

This will still allow you to swipe right as many times as you want, along with using 5 SuperSwipes each week.

In comparison, you need to more expensive Bumble plan if you want access to things like Bumble Travel Mode.

This won’t be worth the upgrade for many, but it could prove a good investment if you move around a lot.

Is it worth spending money for a dating app?

Most dating apps offer free accounts that you can use to get an idea of the experience you’ll get from the real app. However, pretty much all fre versions are severely limited.

For dating apps, the money is in the upgrade, so they’ll often introduce premium plans that you can upgrade to.

For Bumble this is the opportunity to upgrade to Bumble Boost and Bumble Premium. For Tinder it’s Tinder Plus, Gold and Platinum, and for Hinge it’s their preferred membership.

Signing up to the cheapest premium service that the dating app offers is a good idea if you’re going to use it on a regular basis. Though, it does depend on what you’re willing to pay.

Typically, men will be more likely to have to pay for premium. Women may be able to get by using the free to use version, as they’re unlikely to need unlimited likes to find a match.

Conclusion

In conclusion, if you want to find the best solution for dating online, you may end up having to pay for a paid or premium version.

Although the free version of Bumble and other similar dating apps are actually pretty expansive, you’ll always be locked out of the best features as they’re reserved for premium members.

In many cases, the best thing to do is settle on just one of these dating apps and sticking with it for the long term – well, long term enough to find your next partner, anyway.
