The Gym Group App is one of the better gym apps out there. It allows you to manage your membership, book classes, track your workouts and goals, and check how busy the gym is before you go. This is a great feature that many other (especially among the affordable) gyms don’t offer.
However, it’s already hard enough at times to push yourself to go to the gym. The last thing you need is to not be able to book a class or plan your workout because of your The Gym Group App not working.
The chances are that there’s a simple fix for when the Gym Group app isn’t working and that’s what we’re going to explore in this article. So keep reading for some of our top troubleshooting tips.
The Gym Group App Not Working – Here’s how to fix it
Check there are no issues with The Gym Group’s server
The Gym Group is well-known for its affordable gyms, not for being a leader in the tech industry. So every now and again, there may be some issues with the server that’s affecting your app.
If there is a wider issue, they’ll most likely post about it on their social media pages. So it’s a good idea to check their Twitter, Facebook and Instagram pages and they will likely provide updates there, so we’d recommend that you check this first and wait to use the app until the issue is resolved.
However, if you’ve checked their social media pages and they haven’t mentioned an issue at their end, it’s likely to be an issue with your app, phone or internet connection, so read on to find out some common fixes for these problems.
Check for updates
The first thing to try when The Gym Group app isn’t working is to make sure that you’re running the app on the latest update. An app is much more likely to have issues when running on an out-of-date version.
If you’re an iPhone user, check for updates by visiting the App Store > tap your profile icon at the top of the screen and scroll to see any available updates. Tap ‘Update’ on The Gym Group app if that is showing as needing to be updated.
If you’re using an Android, open the Google Play Store app > tap the profile icon and the top right > tap Manage Apps & Devices, apps with an update available are labelled ‘Update Available’.
If you’re using an iPhone, we recommend that you allow automatic downloads to ensure that all of your apps are always up-to-date. You can do this by going to your Settings > App Store and tick ‘App Updates’ to on.
Next, it’s also a good idea to make that your phone itself is running on the latest update, as this can also cause apps to play up. You can check this by going to your phone’s Settings.
Check that you’re connected to WiFi or mobile data
The next thing to check is that you’re connected to WiFi or mobile data. Most apps don’t work offline, so a common reason that you won’t be able to use them is that you’re not connected to the internet.
The Gym Group will show you messages like the below if you’re not connected to the internet.
Other common mistakes people make are turning off their mobile data or putting their phone in airplane mode. To make sure that hasn’t happened go to Settings > Mobile Data and make sure that this is ticked as on.
To check the WiFi on an iPhone, swipe up and make sure the WiFi is turned on (it will be highlighted blue), alternatively, go to your phone’s Settings > WiFi, and make sure this is turned on. Then check for any WiFi you can connect to. You can follow the same steps for Android but swipe down instead of up.
Finally, check that you haven’t put your phone in airplane mode by swiping up and checking the airplane symbol isn’t highlighted.
Delete and re-install The Gym Group App
The next thing we recommend that you try is uninstalling The Gym Group app, then re-install it. Sometimes apps just need a little refresh.
To delete the app, tap and hold down on the app until the below drop-down appears. Then hit delete. For Android, tap and hold down the app until you feel a vibration, then drag the app to where it says ‘Uninstall’.
Re-install by searching for it on the App Store or Google Play Store.
