Bumble App Not Working on WiFi – How To Fix

Bumble is more than your average dating app. It also allows you to meet new people just for a friendship or even network for your career.

Bumble has over 40 million users, so if you’re not able to interact and meet these new people because of your bumble app not working, we get that that can be pretty frustrating.

So, if you’ve been having issues with your Bumble app, then keep reading to hear some of our tried and tested troubleshooting ideas.

Bumble Not Working on Wi-Fi – Here’s how to fix it

If you’re finding that Bumble won’t work when you’re connected to the Wi-Fi at home, the first thing you should do is reset your home router – this can fix Bumble and your internet connection quickly.

Aside from this, you may also want to update the app, and potentially even uninstall then re-install it too.

Communicating through social media is the most popular way for people to talk to each other day-to-day, especially since the pandemic.

It’s frustrating when you can’t get on to your social media or dating app to talk to people because of your Bumble app not working. Here’s what to do step-by-step.

First things first: Check there’s no issues with Bumble’s server

Being such a popular platform, it’s not often that there are issues with the Bumble servers, but that doesn’t mean that it doesn’t ever happen.

For issues that are affecting all Bumble users, they’ll post about this on their Twitter or on Instagram stories where they’re fairly active and provide regular updates.

We recommend you follow them and check their accounts to see if there’s a common issue occurring.

If you’ve scrolled through their stories and there’s nothing there about an issue, then you’ll need to make sure that your phone is working, as that’s likely the cause of the problem.

Check for updates

The first thing to try when the Bumble app isn’t working is to make sure that you’re running the app on the latest update.

An app is much more likely to have problems like crashing or slowing down when running on an out-of-date version.

If you have an iPhone, check for updates by visiting the App Store > tap your profile icon at the top of the screen and scroll to see pending updates.

Tap ‘Update’ on the Bumble app if that is showing as needing to be updated.

If you’re using an Android, open the Google Play Store app > Tap the profile icon and the top right > Tap Manage Apps & Devices, apps with an update available are labelled ‘Update Available’.

If you’re using an iPhone, we recommend that you allow automatic downloads to ensure that all of your apps are always up-to-date.

You can do this by going to your Settings > App Store and tick ‘App Updates’ to on.

Next, it’s also a good idea to make that your phone itself is running on the latest update, as this can also cause apps to play up. You can check this by going to your phone’s Settings.

Once you’ve updated to the latest version on your mobile device, check to see if Bumble is fixed. If not, continue through these troubleshooting steps.

Check that you’re connected to WiFi or mobile data

The next thing to check is that you’re connected to WiFi or mobile data.

Most apps don’t work offline, so a common reason that you won’t be able to use them is that you’re not connected to the internet.

If you’re seeing a message about using bumble offline as shown below, this is likely to be the reason you’re not able to use the app.

A common mistake people make is turning off their mobile data. To make sure that hasn’t happened go to Settings > Mobile Data and make sure that this is ticked as on.

To check the WiFi on an iPhone, swipe up and make sure the WiFi is turned on (it will be highlighted blue), alternatively, go to your phone’s Settings > WiFi, and make sure this is turned on.

Then check for any WiFi you can connect to. You can follow the same steps for Android but swipe down instead of up.

Clear app data and cache

If everything appears to be okay with the severs and you’re all up-to-date, the next thing we recommend that you try is to clear the app data and cache.

You can clear an app’s cache and data on Android, but on iPhone, you need to delete and re-install the app.

Luckily, there’s an “Offload” function, which means that your Bumble data gets kept on the phone when you delete the app, so it restores it all when you re-install it.

To “offload” Bumble  from your iPhone, go to Settings > General > iPhone Storage, and scroll down until you find the Bumble app, tap it, then tap “Offload App.” Go to the App Store, find Bumble and install it again.

For Android, go to Settings > Apps and Notifications > See all apps > Bumble > Storage and cache > Clear cache.

You’ll then need to repeat these steps but tap ‘Clear Storage instead.

Delete and re-install the Bumble app

The final thing we recommend that you try is uninstalling the Bumble app, then re-install it. Sometimes apps just need a complete refresh.

To delete the app, tap and hold down on the app until the below drop-down appears. Then, hit delete.

For Android, tap and hold down the app until you feel a vibration, then drag the app to where it says ‘Uninstall’.

Reinstall by searching for it on the App Store or Google Play Store – you should now find the app working properly.

Conclusion

It can be a real inconvenience when your Bumble app isn’t working, but generally, there’s an easy fix and it’s likely to be one of the issues that we’ve covered in this article. To recap, the main causes are;

  1. Server Issues: Bumble’s servers might be down or experiencing technical difficulties. This can cause disruptions in the service and prevent users from accessing their profiles or matching with others.
  2. App Updates: An outdated version of the Bumble app might lead to compatibility issues. Ensure that you have the latest version of the app installed. Conversely, sometimes new updates might have bugs that can cause temporary issues.
  3. Internet Connection: If your device doesn’t have a stable internet connection, it might not be able to communicate with Bumble’s servers. Ensure you’re connected to a reliable Wi-Fi or cellular network.
  4. Device Compatibility: Not all devices might support the latest version of the Bumble app. Check to see if your device’s software and hardware are compatible with the current version of the app.
  5. Account Issues: It’s possible that there might be an issue with your personal account. This could be due to a temporary suspension, a ban, or an error with your registration details.

Both Android devices and iOS devices can have issues with the Bumble app from time to time. By running through the fixes above, you can get the issue resolved fairly easily.
