Is Tinder free to use and message others?

When it comes to dating apps, there’s none bigger than Tinder, with tens of millions of users signing into the app regularly.

Tinder allows you to connect with people in your location, and part of what makes the app so popular is that it’s free for anyone to sign up to the Tinder platform.

Does Tinder cost money to use?

If you want to sign up and use Tinder completely free, you can create a Tinder account without paying a penny.

For most people, the free version of Tinder will actually be enough – at least to let you know how much you like the platform.

The main limitation of a free Tinder account is that you have a maximum cap on the amount of people you can swipe right/like per day.

Though there is no strict limit for this, it’s said that the limit can be anywhere between 25-100 per day before you’re locked out of liking for a 12 hour period.

You can then log back in start liking other people on the platform again.

If you want to upgrade on Tinder, the first plan that you can opt for is Tinder Plus.

This will give you Unlimited Likes, Unlimited Rewinds and access to Tinder Passport, which allows you to change your location to wherever you desire.

Though there are more Premium features available if you want to sign up to a more expensive plan.

Tinder Gold

Tinder has three different tiers that you can opt for, and the next level up from the Tinder Plus is Tinder Gold.

With Tinder Gold, the key benefit is being able to see who likes you before you like them back – this enables you to get quick matches without having to swipe through a ton of people.

You will also get 5 Super likes that you can use each week, as well as a monthly boost that you can use to increase your visibility too.

Tinder Platinum

Another level up from Tinder Gold, you’ll find Tinder Platinum – this is the highest tier that Tinder offers to its users.

With this subscription plan, the main benefit that you get is prioritised likes – this basically boosts you to the top of other people’s swiping lists, so you’ll gain more visibility.

You will also be able to see all of the likes that you’ve given out over the past week. And, you’ll get the ability to message other users on the platform without liking them.

Criticisms of free Tinder

There are plenty of unfound theories out there about dating apps like Tinder.

One of them is that the free account you get with the platform is severely limited, in an attempt to get you to pay for a premium version on the app.

Though no-one truly knows how the Tinder algorithm works, it does make sense that the free version of the app isn’t as good as the paid version.

However, it can give you a taste of whether the app is the right fit for you. After checking this, you can go ahead and sign up for the premium features, or look at moving to alternative dating apps.

Conclusion

Tinder quickly became the most popular dating app in a short amount of time, and it’s still extremely popular with users.

One of the reasons for this is the app is completely free, and you can match others on the platform without having to upgrade to a premium account.

Although there are benefits to some of Tinder’s premium features, you can test the app out for free to determine whether it’s the right option for you first.
