How to play music on FaceTime

What makes newer version of iOS more fun for iPhone users is newer additions to the FaceTime app.

FaceTime already comes with a ton of features that many iPhone owners aren’t aware of, which includes spatial audio and voice isolation.

However, another feature you can use on iPhone is SharePlay, which allows you to listen to music and watch a movie or TV show with friends.

SharePlay makes it easy and convenient to connect to others remotely and music via a FaceTime call – here’s everything you need to know about creating a SharePlay session.

Use SharePlay to watch and listen together in FaceTime on iPhone

SharePlay on FaceTime allows a person to watch TV shows and other music together when they are on FaceTime.

You should be able to use SharePlay easily, by first making the FaceTime call to your friend.

Then, swiping up on the display to then select another app to use – the app must be approved for use with SharePlay. You don’t need to pause FaceTime.

When you go to play music in the music app, you’ll get a pop up asking if you want to SharePlay. Select yes to share music that you’re listening to with the other person.

It’s a great way to listen to music with friends, however it’s only available with some music apps. This includes;

  • Spotify
  • Apple Music
  • SoundCloud
  • Moon FM
  • TuneIN Radio & more

It also includes many other video playing apps like Apple TV, Hulu, Disney Plus and more. It’s a great way to share moments with others simultaneously.

SharePlay Dynamic Volume Control Playback

With dynamic volume control, the audio is dynamic and allows you to continue a conversation when you listen.

iPhone’s actually already have the ability to cut the sound out of your music when making calls too using noise isolation.

This means that when you make a call and listen to music, the other person can’t hear your speakers on their end, as the volume will adjust automatically so that they never hear it, and you’ll never have to worry about muffled audio.

Which apps can I use SharePlay with?

SharePlay has been tested on iOS devices for FaceTime calls. Many of the most popular apps are available to be used within a SharePlay call.

You can also use Apple SharePlay with the TikTok app too, which makes FaceTime calls a lot more fun with friends as you can share your favourite viral social media content from the platform.

Conclusion

It can be enjoyable to listen to music with friends and family. Usually this type of interaction is not possible with people that aren’t in the same household, as typically listening to music with others is difficult over the internet – there are many problems with audio quality doing this.

One feature that’s been added to newer iOS updates is the ability to go online via Shareplay.

SharePlay allows users to share video or audio content with each other so they can listen to music and watch TV with each other with a smoother connection than most other apps will allow.
