How to Make TikTok Videos Longer – Quick Guide

TikTok videos have a limited length. They must be a minimum of 3 seconds long, and can only be a maximum of 15 seconds by default.

However, TikTok has changed its format to allow videos longer than 15 seconds to exist. In this article we’ll go over how you can make TikTok videos longer.

How to Make TikTok Videos Longer

Although TikTok was originally created for shorter videos, there are a few options you can use to make TikTok videos longer. It’s worth doing posting longer TikTok videos sometimes as more video time can result in better video stats.

We’ll explain how you can make a 60 second video, a 3 minute video, and a 10 minute video.

How to Make a 60 Second TikTok Video

Launch the TikTok app and look near the bottom of the screen. In the middle, there should be a ‘post’ option. Press on it to access the recording screen.

On the recording screen, there should be a red button. Above the red button are three time options. By default, the 15 seconds option should be selected.

Press on the 60 seconds option to change the video length limit.

Now, you can record a TikTok up to 1 minute long. Press and hold the red button to start recording your TikTok.

You can also manually set the recording limit of the video using the ‘timer’ option on the right. Select the ‘timer’ option. A tab should appear near the bottom of the screen.

Drag the red line left and right to set the recording limit. You can be more accurate with this limit as it measures smaller intervals of time.

When you’re done setting the limit, choose a countdown timer. You can select the 3 seconds option to have the countdown last 3 seconds long. Or, you can select the 10 seconds option.

When you’re ready, select the ‘start countdown’ option. After the countdown is over, the video will automatically start recording. Press the square button to stop recording.

How to Make a 3 Minute TikTok Video

Making a 3 minute TikTok video is very similar to how you make a 1 minute TikTok video. Open the TikTok app and select the plus icon near the bottom of the screen.

Then, select the 3 minutes option above the red record button. This will change the recording limit of the video. You can now record a video up to 3 minutes long.

Press and hold the record button to start recording your TikTok. When you’re done recording, let go of the button to stop recording.

You can also choose to edit the recording limit manually by pressing the ‘timer’ option. Drag the red line to alter the limit.

How to Make a 10 Minute TikTok Video

Recently, TikTok has started bringing out a 10 minute option for TikTok videos. This means that you can make TikTok videos that last up to 10 minutes long.

Unfortunately, this option will not be available to everyone as of yet. If you cannot see a 10 minute option above the record button in TikTok, it means you don’t have access to this feature yet.

Instead, you can make TikTok videos longer than 3 minutes by uploading videos from your gallery. Uploading videos on TikTok bypasses some of the video length restrictions, and allows you to make TikToks that last longer than 3 minutes.

Open the TikTok app and press the plus icon near the bottom. Then, select the ‘upload’ option next to the record button.

Choose a video to upload from your gallery by pressing on it. You should then be able to edit the video in TiKTok, and post it.

How to Use Multiple Videos in a TikTok

You can also make TikTok videos longer by uploading multiple videos for a TikTok. This will allow you to combine the lengths of multiple videos to form one long TikTok video.

In order to upload multiple videos to TikTok, first open the TikTok app. Select the plus icon in the bottom centre to open up the recording function.

Next to the red button, there should be an ‘upload’ option. Press on it.

You will be taken to your camera roll. Locate the videos you wish to upload. Each video should have a circle on them.

Press on the circles for each video you wish to upload to select them. Make sure you press them in the order you want them to appear in.

When you’re done, press the ‘next’ option.

You can now edit the TikTok. You can add a song from TikTok’s library, or use the default sound from the videos.

You can also trim the video, or reorder the videos by long-pressing and dragging them around.

When you’re done, press ‘next’.

You should now see the default editing tools. You can add text, add stickers, add effects, add filters, add captions, and more.

When you’re finished editing the TikTok, press ‘next’.

You should now be able to add a description and hashtags, and post the TikTok.

When you’re ready, press the ‘post’ option. If you don’t want to post it yet, you can save it for later and come back to edit drafts when you want to finish the video off.

In conclusion, you can make TikTok videos longer by altering the limit options in the recording screen. You can make 1 minute long videos, 3 minute long videos, and even 10 minute long videos.

Editing videos to the appropriate video time is a great idea if you want to stick with high quality videos. You can even add music separately if you want to make your TikTok videos stand out too!
