How to log out (or delete) the new Amazon app – Guide

The Amazon app is one of the most popular apps in the world, but sometimes you may feel like you need to remove yourself from it to avoid spending money that could be used on better things.

Most people have an Amazon account automatically logged in on the app to make it easy to add things to your wish list or basket as you scroll, but not a lot of people know how to log out from your account on the app.

If your Amazon app is not working, then you may not be able to log out of it – you may have to delete the Amazon Mobile app completely.

But in this article, we are going to explain how to log out of the Amazon app on an Android or iOS device and also talk through some of your other options if you are looking to take a break from online shopping.

How to log out Amazon app – Step by step

As with the majority of apps, Amazon don’t make it easy for you to sign out of their app.

After all, they want you to keep buying items from their marketplace so they want you to be constantly logged in.

Follow the step by step guide below to safely and securely log out of your Amazon account on the app:

  1. Open the Amazon app.
  2. Select the icon with the three horizontal lines. This is situated on the bottom right hand side of the screen next to the basket icon.
  3. Scroll down to the bottom of this page and select the settings tab.
  4. At the bottom of this page you will see the ‘sign out’ option. Selecting it will bring up a message asking you to select ‘sign out’ again – do this and you’ll be logged out of the app.

There are other ways in which you can effectively log out of the app if you want to remove all temptation away from your life in regards to Amazon shopping sprees. Let’s take a look at them.

You can do this on both Android and iOS devices once done, you should be able to log out of the Amazon app successfully.

How to delete the Amazon app

Another option for those who are looking to take a break from Amazon is to delete the app off your phone – you can also do this if you find you can’t log out of the Amazon app.

Sure, you will still have access to your account via a web browser but the ease of access will be gone.

To delete the app from your iOS device you need to hold down on the Amazon icon on your phone’s home screen and then select ‘remove app’ from the drop down menu that will pop up.

Doing this will delete the app from your phone and also log you out.

Therefore, if you were to decide to redownload it in the future then you would have to enter your log in details again, meaning that this is another way of logging out if you can’t be bothered routing through the app’s navigation to find the ‘sign out’ option.

How to Delete an Amazon account

If you’ve completely had enough of Amazon and want to get rid of your account completely, then you can delete your account via the app.

Of course, you don’t want to do this if you have a gift card balance or courtesy credit in the Amazon shopping app, as you’ll lose access to it.

This option is considerably more hidden than the log out option, but we’ve managed to figure out how to do it. Please follow these steps:

  1. Open the Amazon app.
  2. Select the icon with the three horizontal lines. This is situated on the bottom right hand side of the screen next to the basket icon.
  3. Select ‘Customer Service’.
  4. Scroll to the bottom of this page and in the box underneath ‘Search for help articles’ type in ‘delete account’ and search.
  5. Click the second option down on the search results which should read ‘Request the Closure of Your Account and the Deletion of Your Personal Information’.
  6. Within this page there will be a link to a ‘Close Your Amazon Account’ page after point 1. Click on this link.
  7. Scroll down to the bottom of the next page and tick the box that reads ‘Yes, I want to permanently close my Amazon Account and delete my data’ and then select ‘Close my account’.
  8. You will then receive either an email or text to confirm your decision. Follow the instructions on the text or email to finalise your decision.

Conclusion

The Amazon app doesn’t make it easy for users to ‘get out’ if they’ve decided that they’ve had enough of it and no longer want to spend their time scrolling through their online marketplace and buying item after item.

It’s easily done, and a break from the app can do you a world of good. It’s a good idea to log out and even delete the Amazon Mobile app if you’re spending too much time on it.

We hope that our step by step instructions will provide you with an easy way out of the Amazon app, but if you just want a quick escape then simply delete the app.
