How to ban someone from a Facebook business page who hasn’t liked it

When Facebook first launched in 2004, it was solely used by individuals for personal use.

However, as time went on, Facebook evolved in many different ways and business owners saw the potential of the platform as a way to promote and/or advertise their business.

The ‘Pages’ subsection of the social media platform has since gone on to boom to the point now where if your business isn’t on Facebook then you really need to have a rethink of your business strategy.

One ‘issue’ with having your business on Facebook is that you open up your business to internet trolls whose sole aim is to tarnish your business and to publicly ruin it for no reason whatsoever.

In this article, we are going to look at what can be done in regards to this issue, including with those who have liked your business page and those who haven’t.

How to ban someone from a Facebook business page who hasn’t liked it – step by step

‘Banning’ someone on your Facebook business page essentially works in the same way as ‘blocking’ someone does on your personal Facebook account.

By banning/blocking a user your are basically ensuring that they can’t interact with your business or any of its posts in any way, including liking, commenting and sharing.

In order to ban someone from your Facebook business page, please follow these steps:

  1. Log on to your Facebook Business Page.
  2. Navigate to the ‘settings’ tab on your page.
  3. Select ‘people and other pages’.
  4. From the subsequent drop down menu, select ‘banned people and pages’.
  5. Select on the ‘+ban a person’ option from the list of options.
  6. From here, you are able to type in the name of the people who you would like to block. The results that appear will be from the entire Facebook database, meaning you may have to do a little bit of scrolling if the person in question has a popular name.
  7. Once you’ve found the person you want to block, select them from the list and click ‘save’.
  8. That person will now be banned from interacting with your page.

A possible alternative method

There is another way of banning users from your Facebook business page who haven’t like it, however this method is only possible if the person in question has commented on any of your posts.

Of course, this scenario is entirely plausible given that one of the main reasons why people want to ban users on their business page is if they are leaving abusive comments on your posts.

If they have, then please follow these instructions:

  1. Log on your Facebook Business Page.
  2. Head to your page’s posts and find a comment from the person you wish to ban.
  3. Select the three dotted icon to the right of the comment.
  4. Select ‘hide comment’.
  5. This will bring up further options for you to select. Click on ‘ban user’ and confirm your decision.
  6. That comment will now be hidden and the user who made the comment will be banned from interacting with any of your future posts.

How to ban users who have liked your business page

When you’re going through the process of banning users who HAVEN’T liked your business page, it may dawn on you that there are actually some users who HAVE liked your business page that you want to ban too.

To do this, you can simply follow the processes outlined above. However, there is also a quicker method when it comes to banning people who have liked your page. Let’s take a look at this method:

  1. Log on to your Facebook Business Page.
  2. Select the settings button.
  3. Select ‘people and other pages’.
  4. Ensure that ‘people who like this page’ is selected from the drop down menu on this page.
  5. You should be looking at a list of every Facebook user that has liked your page.
  6. Scroll through them all, or search their name specifically, and then select ‘ban from page’ once you find the users that you wish to ban.

These users will no longer ‘like’ your page and they will no longer be able to interact or engage with any of your businesses posts.

How to unban users from your Facebook page

It may well dawn on you after some time, or simply after a conversation with any of your banned users, that you want to unban some people from your page.

In order to do this, please follow these steps:

  1. Log on to your Facebook Business Page.
  2. Head to the settings section of your page.
  3. Select ‘people and other pages’ and then ‘banned people and pages’.
  4. From the list of your banned users, tap ‘unban’ next to any that you wish to unban.
  5. These users will once again be able to like your page, as well as like and/or comment on any of your businesses posts.

Unbanning users from your Facebook Page will allow them to rejoin the page, which means that they’ll be able to interact with your Facebook page again.

Conclusion

To conclude, Facebook make it really easy and straightforward for businesses to ban users from their page.

It’s a little easier than some other tasks with Facebook, like trying to see who viewed your Facebook video, though the business analytics are typically better than individual ones.

Facebook want businesses to set up a base on their platform and therefore it would be counter productive for them to not have this feature.

We hope that our instructions above will help ban (and unban) any users from your page, regardless of whether they like your page or not.
