So, whether you want to have a browse of this season’s trends or order some new clothes, the H&M app not working can be a real inconvenience.
In this article, we’re going to give you some tips to try when the H&M app isn’t working to get you back on as soon as possible.
H&M App not working – Here’s how to fix it
Check there are no issues with the H&M server
Sometimes issues with the H&M app are caused by issues with the H&M server itself. If there is a wider issue, they’ll usually post about this on their website or social media platforms, so we recommend you check these out first and wait to use the app until they’ve announced that the server issue is resolved.
Keep reading about some common problems that people have if their H&M app is still not working.
Check for updates
The first thing to check when the H&M app isn’t working is to make sure that you’re running on the latest update. When an app is running on an out-of-date version, you’re much more likely to face issues with it not loading, running slowly or crashing.
If you have an iPhone, check for updates by visiting the App Store > tap your profile icon at the top of the screen and scroll to see apps that require an update. Simply tap ‘Update’ on the H&M app if it’s showing there.
If you’re using an Android, open the Google Play Store app > tap the profile icon and the top right > tap Manage Apps & Devices, apps with an update available are labelled ‘Update Available’.
If you’re using an iPhone, we recommend you allow automatic downloads to ensure that all of your apps are always up-to-date. You can do this by going to your Settings > App Store and tick ‘App Updates’ to on.
Next, it’s also a good idea to make that your phone itself is running on the latest update, as this can also cause apps to have problems like not loading or crashing. You can check this by going to your phone’s Settings.
Like the app updates, you can also enable iOS updates to go through automatically. You can check this is enabled by going to Settings > General > Software Update and checking that Automatic Update shows as ‘On’ as shown below.
Check that you’re connected to WiFi or mobile data
The next thing to check is that you’re connected to WiFi or mobile data. Most apps don’t work offline, so a common reason that you won’t be able to use them is that you’re not connected to the internet.
H&M will show you a message like the below if you’re not connected to the internet.
Other common mistakes people make are turning off their mobile data or putting their phone in airplane mode. To make sure that hasn’t happened, go to Settings > Mobile Data and make sure that this is ticked as on.
To check the WiFi on an iPhone, swipe up and make sure the WiFi is turned on (it will be highlighted blue), alternatively, go to your phone’s Settings > WiFi, and make sure this is turned on. Then check for any WiFi you can connect to. You can follow the same steps for Android but swipe down instead of up.
Finally, check that you haven’t put your phone in airplane mode by swiping up and checking the airplane symbol isn’t highlighted.
Delete and re-install the H&M app
If everything appears to be okay with the severs and you’re up-to-date, the next thing you should try is uninstalling the H&M app, then re-install it. Sometimes apps just need a complete refresh.
To delete the app, tap and hold down on the app until the below drop-down appears. Then hit ‘Delete’. For Android, tap and hold down the app until you feel a vibration, then drag the app to where it says ‘Uninstall’.
Re-install by searching for the H&M app on the Apple App Store or Google Play Store.
