Costa App Not Working – What to do

There’s nothing quite as frustrating as not being able to get your morning coffee because of the Costa app not working. With Costa being one of the most popular coffee chains out there, you wouldn’t expect to have issues with trying to order your coffee with their app.

The Costa app is popular with many. It’s replaced the old-style loyalty cards, so you don’t need to worry about forgetting it and missing out on freebies. You can also order your coffee on the app to save yourself a couple of minutes on your morning commute.

However, Costa’s famous for its coffee, not for its tech. So there have been a few issues in the past with its customers having issues with the Costa Coffee Club app not working. If you’ve been having issues with the Costa app, then keep reading to hear some of our top troubleshooting ideas.

Costa App not working – Here’s how to fix it

Confirm there are no issues with the Costa Coffee App server

The Costa Coffee Club app is pretty reliable, but if there are any issues, then they are likely caused by the Costa server itself. If there is a known issue that the application is having, then they’ll post this on their website or social media; this is why it’s a good idea to check first.

If there is an issue, then you’ll just have to wait to use the app. There’s a chance that there’s just too many users trying to access it at the same time, which can cause problems – primarily a temporary loading issue on the device.

However, if you’ve checked their Twitter, Facebook and Instagram accounts and you can’t find any mention of an issue, then it’s more likely to be something on your end. Keep reading for some common things that you can check if your Costa app is still not working.

Check for updates

The first thing to try when the Costa Coffee Club app isn’t working is to make sure that you’re running on the latest update. When an app is running on an out-of-date version, it’s much more likely to crash or become glitchy.

If you have an iPhone, check for updates by visiting the App Store > tap your profile icon at the top of the screen and scroll to see pending updates. Tap ‘Update’ on the Costa app if that is showing as needing to be updated.

If you’re using an Android, open the Google Play Store app > tap the profile icon and the top right > tap Manage Apps & Devices, apps with an update available are labelled ‘Update Available’.

If you’re using an iPhone, we recommend that you allow automatic downloads to ensure that all of your apps are always up-to-date. You can do this by going to your Settings > App Store and tick ‘App Updates’ to on.

Next, it’s also a good idea to make that your phone itself is running on the latest update, as this can also cause apps to play up. You can check this by going to your phone’s Settings.

Check that you’re connected to WiFi or mobile data

The next thing to check is that you’re connected to WiFi or mobile data. Most apps don’t work offline, so a common reason that you won’t be able to use them is that you’re not connected to the internet.

If you’re seeing a message about internet connection as shown below, this is likely to be the reason you’re not able to use the app.

A common mistake people make is turning off their mobile data. To make sure that hasn’t happened go to Settings > Mobile Data and make sure that this is ticked as on.

To check the WiFi on an iPhone, swipe up and make sure the WiFi is turned on (it will be highlighted blue), alternatively, go to your phone’s Settings > WiFi, and make sure this is turned on. Then check for any WiFi you can connect to. You can follow the same steps for Android but swipe down instead of up.

Delete and re-install the Costa app

If everything appears to be okay with the severs and you’re all up-to-date, the next thing we recommend that you try is uninstalling the Costa Coffee Club app, then re-install it. Sometimes apps just need a refresh.

To delete the app, tap and hold down on the app until the below drop-down appears. Then hit delete. For Android, tap and hold down the app until you feel a vibration, then drag the app to where it says ‘Uninstall’.

Re-install by searching for it on the App Store or Google Play Store.

Although, make sure that you remember your login details before doing this as you’ll need to log back into your account so you can get all of your points back again.

Conclusion

As we said before, Costa is known for its coffee, not its super reliable tech, so you may encounter some issues when you collect coffee club points with the app. It’s not isolated to just Costa – users often find the Starbucks app not working too, so it can happen with any brand.

Generally, there’s an easy fix and it’s likely to be one of the issues that we’ve covered in this article. For more troubleshooting advice, check out some of our other articles on a range of different apps.
